Man dies while raping elderly South Texas woman

REFUGIO, Texas — Investigators say a man has died while in the act of raping an elderly South Texas woman.
The Refugio County Sheriff's Office identifies the man as 53-year-old Isabel Chavelo Gutierrez. Sheriff's Sgt. Gary Wright says the incident happened June 2 after he rode two miles by bicycle from his home to that of his 77-year-old victim in the tiny coastal community of Tivoli.
He says the man, weighing between 230 and 250 pounds, sneaked into the woman's house and raped her at knifepoint. During the attack, he said he wasn't feeling well, rolled over and died. His body was sent to the Nueces County medical examiner in Corpus Christi for autopsy.
Gutierrez was a registered sexual offender on parole from a sentence for aggravated sexual assault and indecency with a child.

Part of why I think it's some sort of weird wiring (evil isn't a word I would be opposed to) is because of convo's I have had with my husband and other men in my life. Having sex with children is just disgusting, plain and simple. Normal healthy men don't have a bit of interest in that at all. So the men that do it..they have to have something wrong with them. Again, not saying they don't know the difference between right and wrong, and still choose wrong, but there still has to be something wrong with them.
And as for rape of women...my husband and same male friends tell me they have absolutely no interest in taking a women against her will. They say the idea is not even appealing...they want a willing and eager "bed mate" or nothing. But again, I don't think that means they don't know it's wrong, and still choose to give in to the compulsion.
As for prisons...fortunately sexual predators, especially those that prey on children don't fair to well there. I agree...it needs to be harsh. When you do something like that to another human, you forfeit the rights I enjoy as a law abiding citizen. But I don't think that a tougher and harsher prison system will deter these guys. Maybe the guy thinking about stealing the car, but not those that commit these types of crimes.

I dunno, Im kinda with bb on this. People who feed on children imo are just evil. Not to mention the fact that not too long ago you never heard of such atrocities like you do today. I think the penalty is not longer stiff enuff to deter them. I mean whoopie prison? Where you get fed without working for it, free medical care, all the sex you want, a warm bed and a roof over your head on the taxpayers dime. Hell half the taxpayers cannot live that good, and on top of that you get a library and just about anything else without paying a dime. Yeah that is a real deterrent to crime. Used to be they would have had a shotgun up their but in a nano second so if they were wired differently at least it kept them for the most part out of the public eye. I say send em back to the closet. People have always had a choice, difference is if you made the wrong one you actually paid a penalty. I think we need to go back to tarr and feathers. OMG! I think some are just wired wrong. There is also much evidence showing that severe childhood trauma and abuse can cause all sorts of problems later on in life.
But please don't mistake my meaning. There is still no excuse, and predators should be locked up for good. We cannot take the risk of allowing them out. And I know if I felt that way, I would turn myself in before I did anything. So I don't think it's ok or excusable in any way, shape or form.

See thats where I disagree. I dont think there is such a thing as I cant help it. The only way you can not help it i my opinion is if you are possessed. Otherwise I dont care what the studies show, I do not buy it.
There are so many excuses being made for people its crazy. Over and over we hear

I think that is a very interesting question. Yes, I do think it is a very strong compulsion, and to a certain extent they can't help it. I think that is pretty much proven. It's why they cannot really be rehabilitated and society has to be protected from them.
On the other side of things...as much as I believe that to be the case, it doesn't make it excusable. Because even if you have a strong compulsion to do something, you still have to know it's wrong. You also know it's against the law. They do have the option of coming forward, admitting they feel this way and having themselves removed from having the ability to do it. There are cases where that has happened and some of these men have chosen to have themselves chemically casterated.
The reason our laws (it's the same thing here, hence my use of the word "our") are so lax is because we are still not fully recognizing that when a someone rapes, it has not a thing to do with sex. That's just the weapon. It has everything to do with hatred and power.

I don't think that telling rapists & pedo's that the penalty for 'doing what they do' is death, would help to curb the incidence rate in the least.
Serial killers know, deep in the recesses of their minds, that the penalty for doing what they do, is death, yet they still exist and do what they do.
Bank robbers know they'll go to jail if they're caught, yet here we are, living in a world where bank robbery is commonplace.
CRIMINALS in general know that there are penalties for their criminal behavior, yet our prisons are full of those that do the deeds anyway.
Simply telling pedo's & rapists that the slap on the wrist they get will be more severe, will not serve to stop them... it'll serve to make them try harder to hide what they do.

Sorry, but the "they cant help it because its a mental disorder" does not work with me. Its plain old sin and I have a sure fire way to help them help themselves.
Let all men know that the punishment for rape is to have your tool and hands chopped off and I

It's been pretty hot down here in Texas lately, and with a heat-index of 103 degrees F on 6/13, this 230-250 lb man that RODE HIS BIKE (2) miles in order to rape this 77-year old woman, must have been REALLY hell-bent on doing what he set out to do.
I'm not certain, but is a serial-rapist similar in nature to a pedo? Pedo's "can't help themselves" as it's some sort of mental mis-wiring or imbalance or sickness.

I dont feel any sympathy for this guy at all. Children and Old women: Sounds like a control freak to me. Im glad he didnt suffocate the old woman as big as he was!

This will shock people coming from my mouth, but good riddance to bad rubbish. It's just too bad he didn't die before he could begin his attack. People that prey on the elderly are just as bad as pedophiles, and rapists in general are in the same catagory. I wish they could or would impose tougher (like life) sentences on sexual predators. Poor lady.
