Please please help! Conception dates

Firstly apologies for this long winded post, I am at my wits end and need some advice!
Ok, so my baby is due on 6th May (the closer it's getting the more scared I am) my problem related back to conception/early scan/dating scan!

Here goes.....

My LMP was 30th July 2015

On early hours of Sat 8th Aug I foolishly/drunkenly let another man finger me, whilst he was playing with himself (sorry tmi) it was a silly mistake at a party and I regret it so much as infidelity is not something I agree with at all! (Bear this part in mind for the scan dates to follow)

I slept with my BF on 13th August 2015 (the only day in a period of one month due to him being overseas) he didn't finish though! (Which leads to more confusion)

I found out I was pregnant on 14th September 2015 and was sent for an early ultrasound due to past problems! My scan was on 17th September and sonographer said I measured 5 and a bit/6 weeks! I cod clearly see a little heartbeat also! When I count that back it takes me to possible conception being the 8th August, would you agree?

I know this sounds ridiculous because I didn't actually have intercourse with the other man but i have the fear that perhaps he may have had sperm or even precum on his fingers when he touched me and this is what's lead to pregnancy!

I am distraught at the fact I am even doubting this, any help or advice would be appreciated x

Listen to your medical advisor.  If he or she knows your situation and your concerns and has your records in front of them, they are the ones to tell you what is what.

My scan on the 17 sept was a brief abdominal scan done (with an empty bladder - not sure if that may have affected accuracy because I was so early on) and basically it was just to check baby was in correct place etc after a previous ectopic!

I have heard that the actual dating scans are best for accuracy! Would you agree with this?

At my dating scan on 22nd Oct 15 they said I was 11+5 and if I count back 9+5 that takes me to the 15th Aug 15 which is two days after the only date I had sex during that month! And it also puts me in line with what conception calculators said my possible ovulation date would be given the fact I have fairly regular cycles!

So the only one time I had sex during the whole month of Aug was the 13th, however my BF did not finish! Do you think there is more chance I got pregnant then though than from the possibility of precum on fingers on the early hours of 8th Aug 15?? (Which by the way was a foolish minute of contact and I can't even be sure if there would have been any sperm/precum on the guys fingers, the only reason it's of course a possibility is the fact he had been pleasuring himself prior to touching me!

Annie, I'm sorry, reading this back sounds ludicrous but I am absolutley terrified!

Thanks in advance (again) X

I questioned my actual dating scan today and the sonigrapher looked at it and said it was pretty much bang on accurate as it was such a clear pic for measurements! x

Talk to your doctor, because the information from October 22 does not align with the information from September 17.

At my early ultrasound I wasn't actually given an EDD!

This may help.....

Early scan 17 Sept 2015 said 5wks 6days
Dating scan 22 Oct 2015 said 11+5

It was at the dating scan they said my EDD was 6th May 2016 which was only a day of a difference to EDD estimated by LMP (LMP being 30 July 15, EDD being 5th May 16) Xx

Since your medical file will include all that went before, ask the doctor or the midwife to page back to the first time you had an ultrasound so they can see what estimated due date you were given.  Working from an EDD that was attained from an early ultrasound is the way to go.

Hi I didn't go into it in depth with one of the sonographers but what she did say to me was 'we don't go by LMP but you need to remember the '2 week rule in scans' So from that I assume that means the 2 weeks are in fact included! x

Hi, Gsb, if your midwife tells you "it was a mere estimation of baby size," there's no answer a third party can find.  When the original information was itself a guess, no guesses based on it can help.

Does your midwife understand why you need to know as exactly as possible?  Have you asked to speak to a doctor and had the doctor review the records with you?

It might help if you ask for your earliest estimated due date in the records (not the "weeks pregnant" figure) and be sure it was computed based on your ultrasound and not calculated with a little wheel nor based on your last period, and then explain your dilemma with a calendar in your hand and go over it together.  You are better off ignoring "weeks pregnant" and trying to work from EDDs.  That's all I can suggest.

This is all confusing,  Gsp.  Your sono on Sept. 17 is most likely VERY accurate,  and if you count back to you being 5-6 weeks pregnant on the 17th,  that would put conception between Aug. 20 - 27.  In there.

One confusing thing,  you give yourself two "free" weeks at the beginning of a pregnancy - pregnancy dates back to the last regular menstrual cycle.  So the day your period is due,  you are already considered 4 weeks,  not the true 2 weeks you are actually pregnant.

Your sonogram dating doesn't match up with anything.  That doesn't match your LMP date,  or any date that you remember having sex,  or your due date.

The due date you've been assigned reflects that on Sept. 17,  you were 7 weeks pregnant,  and also that your conception date was Aug. 14.

I would suggest you call your doctor and discuss your Sept. 17 sonogram,  and why that doesn't reflect the due date you have been given.  My guess is,  the sonographer spoke incorrectly when she gave you the age of your baby.

Can you post back after calling and clarifying that?

Thank you for your reply Rockrose. I questioned my early scan date with midwife today and she said in the notes it was a fetal measurement not gestational s basically disregarding my LMP etc and the '2weeks' it was a mere estimation of baby size X
