Bleeding gums

Hi, I live in the uk, and I havent been to a dentist since my son was born 28 yrs ago, this is because i am scared of needles. Last time I went i was in a lot of pain and had 3 wisdom teeth out, they used something to numb the gums before the injections which was great, but then he injected the roof of the mouth without any numbing, this as put me off going again.
Apart from 2 teeth the rest seem ok. Its my gums i am worried about they bleed a lot, i only have to poke with my tongue and it will bleed for ages till i end up siting with a mouth full of cold water, then i end up with a blood clot to spit out.
Is there a way i can fix this without a needle?
Thanks

You should go back to the doctor. You oral health makes a big impact on your overall health. You can always call an office and ask if they are "pain free" or if they "cater to cowards" you find this expression in the windows of dentists in the U.S. to let you know that they will be gentle and you don't need to be afraid. I really think you need to go and give it another try. The progress they have made in the last 28 years is unbelievable. Gum disease is also the main reason for tooth loss. Your teeth might be O.K. but if your gums can't hold your teeth in they will fall out. What's the worst that can happen? You just get up out of the chair and leave. There are gentle dentists out there. You just need to find one. There are also compassionate dentists out there that will not rake you over the coals for not going for so long. If you get a bad feeling about a dentist just leave. I know your health care in the UK is different than in the U.S. so I hope this helps. You won't believe the difference in how you feel once your mouth is in good condition.

Good Luck!
