Cavity in the gums after wisdom tooth extraction

I had one of my wisdom teeth extracted five days ago and the wound is still stitched. Today I noticed that despite the stitches, there is a narrow yet deep cavity where the tooth used to be. It seems as if part of the hole in the gums is covered thanks to the stitches but there is still a small gap left. Is that normal, or should I ask my dentist to look at i...

It can take several weeks for the extraction site to close completely.  As long as you're not experiencing pain you should be ok.

HI,
A gap remains in the gums after tooth extraction. This can be stitched with sutures or it can also heal on its own. The only thing you need to be careful about is that there should be no infection. You can ask your dentist to have a look. Hope this helps.
