I had a tooth extracted 3 weeks ago and an implant placed in immediately. I was in severe pain for over a week. I took 2 advil and 2 tylenol 4 times a day. I would take a lorcet at night in place of the tylenol. I am still in pain and take the the same pain relievers 2 to 3 times a day. I went back to the dentist after the first week. He said the gum looked great and everything looked great and he could not see way I was in any pain. Possibly a dry socket. He couldn't do anything for it at the time because he did not want to remove the temporary crown that soon after the implant. He gave me a syringe with some kind of brown stuff that seemed to numb the area. It has been 10 days since that visit to the dentist. I can see redness around the temporary crown now, the gum feels funny and I have a terrible taste in my mouth. I go back to the dentist in a couple of days. Shouldn't I be on an antibiotic?
