Pain after fillings

I recently went to dentist after 2 yrs.  I had bad pain in 1 tooth.  Dental xrays showed 8 cavities.  I got 1 root canal and crown and 7 fillings.  None of the 7 teeth hurt prior to the fillings but most of them hurt after the fillings were done.  The dentish re-did work on some of the fillings and seemed annoyed that I kept coming back with pain she could not figure out.  She then started telling me the pain was radiating from my wisdom teeth and I needed them extracted.  I saw an oral surgeon and he said I should consider having them extracted at some point but that they were not causing any problems at this time.  The dentist then started telling me I had gum disease and needed to have my gums scaled.  She said the gum disease was causing the pain and bleeding.  The pain I have is only on teeth she worked on, not my whole mouth.  My gums do not ever bleed.  She said they bleed when she pokes them with her instrument and they should not.  I think she does not know what she is doing.  She has now transferred to an office in another state and my insurance has been terminated.  I still have pain when I eat crunchy food.  What went wrong?

I also had this problem. I don't have the greatest confidence in the dentist that did my filling and wonder whether the filling is inadequate. Is is possible to tell this from examination or an xray? I am concerned that I may be predisposed to worsening cavities around the filling. Would appreciate advice from the dentist.

patients are usually able to tell when it is their gums that hurt or if it is a tooth or teeth that hurt. it is possible that the fillings are cuasing sensitivit, especially if they are filled with composite. i think part of the problem lies in communication. you should have been given a complete writte ntreatment plan for all the work you need, and the risks of each procedure should have been explained to you. at his point a 2nd opinion may be in order. request a complete written treatment plan.

I am sorry but I do not know went wrong if anything. The type of filling material or depth of the cavities might be the culprit.Tooth colored fillings can cause the teeth to be sensitive and painful. I would seek out another dentist for an answer to your problems. I would not jump around to other possibilities until each and everyone of those teeth are treated.
