Besides the risks stated by StratRebel, there is the risk of bone graft failure and/or implant failure.

Before you make a final decision to get bone graft(s) & implant(s), make sure you get at least two other opinions from an Prothodontist and NOT a General Dentist. And when you asks for those opinions "make sure you let them know that you are only seeking their expert opinion AND WILL NOT BE USING THEIR SERVICES".  The latter will help increase the odds that you are being given a TOTALLY HONEST opinion and possible other treatment options that is in your best interest only!

Your best bet if you are going to have bone graft(s) & dental implant(s) is through a Prothodontist & Oral Surgeon working together with your General Dentist.

Dental implants w/bone grafts is a major $ and time investment per tooth and are NOT guaranteed by the dentist if either the bone graft or implant fail.  Sadly, there are far too many dentists out there that push for an aggressive treatment plan, in order to increase their profits, when a more conservative treatment plan could have been offered or encouraged.

Whatever type of treatment plan you decide on ALWAYS  get the treatment plan and estimate in writing!!!   If you decide to go with bone grafting and implants, know that the crown(s) or bridge is a separate cost.Having Imaging done is separate ($250.00 - $350.00), dental impressions ($200.00 - $300.00), sedation costs and the list goes on...

Keep in mind that dental costs varies from state to state, as it does between counties and neighborhoods. The most expensive neighborhoods does not mean the best treatment. Wherever you go, DO NOT wear expensive clothing or jewelry nor drive up and park in front of the dentist office if you have a nice vehicle, as the dental treatment plan/costs you are given could very well be based on how much they think they could make off you! Sad, but true.

There are really great dentists out there that care about what is best for you BUT there are also dentists that care more about the money. I have had to learn this SICK FACT through unnecessary aggressive dental work that cost me dearly, both financially and emotionally.

Good Luck!!

These have the same risks as any other oral surgery: pain, bleeding, infection, etc.  This is something you should discuss directly with your oral surgeon.
