Small lump under one of my molars, felt in my jaw.

For roughly a month now I've had a small lump under a broken tooth. You cannot see it or feel it from the inside of my mouth - it can only be felt by pushing a finger up the inside of my jawline. It's hard, roughly the size of a baked bean, and can be moved around and pulled to a certain point, but ends up back in the same spot once I release it. The tooth that it's located under has been causing me pain on and off lately, so a lot of people suggested it might be an abcess, however, I'm a hypochondriac and keep convincing myself that it's a tumor, cancer, or something terrible along those lines. It has not noticably increased in size over the past month, but it remains in place. Until I can secure another appointment with my dentist (long waiting list) I feel that I should ask about it to perhaps ease my fear or if I need to aim for an emergency appointment.

With my description, could anyone possibly provide any answers or theories? If any more detail is needed, I can gladly provide it, and thank you in advance - I worry far too much and this has been in the back of my mind a lot. Definitely don't want to go through the whole "oral cancer" thing at this age...

yeah i agree sounds like a yucky ol abcess, been there done that even after a roto canal! Id call the dds back and say you believe you have an abcess, describe it to them and tell them that its starting to cause you pain. they most likey will put you on antiobiotics or antiobiotcs and a steriod. ont wait around for it to go away have that sucker treated immediatly, sound like youll probably be needed a root canal if you have a broken tooth an an abcess, root canals are pretty awesome, ive had 3 with no issue and a 4th with issues. if done right youll never ever have a issue with that tooth again!

Hi, I am not a dentist but I am a hygienist and I see this all the time.  Sounds like an abscess.  I would even suggest calling it an emergency and get it treated right away, at least you would get your answers soon :)
