One week ago I noticed that my gums behind my last molar on the bottom right side of my mouth, where a wisdom tooth used to reside, was sore. A couple days later I noticed something sharp beginning to poke out. Each day it poked out a little more and it's been one week now. At first I thought it was a bone fragment working it's way to the surface but a dentist saw it today and said it was in fact part of the bone and not a loose fragment. It did not move when he put pressure on it with his dentist tool. It almost looks like the top of a small tooth protruding through the gums way in the back near bottom inside part where maybe the roots of a wisdom tooth used to reside.
The dentist had me a little concerned when he said that he never saw something quite like that and reffered me to an oral surgeon. Unfortunately I can't see him until Monday so I'm wondering what is going on and what I'm in for....
He said that he thought the oral surgeon may have to grind it down and then hopefully the gums would grow back over it?????
Has anyone experienced something like this before?
