bad smell from capped front tooth

My front tooth has been capped for 2 years and has had a root canal for 31 years.  About 6 months ago it began to throb a little and I noticed a bad smell when I rubbed my finger on it or flossed.  I went to a periodontist who opened up the gum and cleaned it out, that lasted for about 1 month, and then the smell came back.  My dentists feels the root may be cracked and suggests an implant at this point since the tooth has been dead for 31 years. Anyone ever had this problem or gotten a front tooth implant?  Thanks!

Hi again,

I tried my crowns on last week and will have them temporarily glued this coming Tuesday.  I already know how happy I will be with the whole procedure.

I had my implants done by an oral surgeon and was very happy with the entire experience (if you can be happy about having four teeth out and four implants in).

Best to you in your decision.

Hi,
I just recently got four implants with bone grafts across the top front.  I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I'm all set for my permanent crowns on Tuesday.  It is a long ordeal, and expensive, but worth every second and penny.

My DH has 7 implants and is also very pleased.  The secret is to get someone that really knows what they are doing and the very first question you should ask is how many they have done, esp in the front.  You want someone that can give you the best placement for the best aesthetics.

Hope this helps.
Best to you,
Gellia
