Did a general dentist or endodontist do the root canal?  If a general dentist, I would go to an endodontist for a second opinion.  It is not normal for a root canal to hurt this long.  What kind of pain are you having and where?  Tooth aching, burning, ??

Get a copy of your records for the endo and look at the xray to see if there is any foreign material outside the tooth (i.e. overfill).  It will show up as a white spot at or near the bottom of your tooth.  You can ask the dentist who did it but I would ask to see the xray and look at it before you bring it up.

Also, while you are at it, find out what they used for the filling material.  You want to hear gutta percha.  You don't want to hear Sargenti paste, N2, RC2B, RC2W...but cross that bridge IF you come to it.  Most likely you won't but if this is the problem, it needs fixed now...not a month later.  Sargenti Paste type materials have formaldehyde in them and it can cause problems...but, again, probably not the problem but worthy of investigating.
