Affects of ECT

I had 6 Electroconvulsive Therapy treatments eight months ago.  They failed to work.  Ever since I have had memory problems. I was told this would get better after six or seven months.  I am really worried about this and embarassed.  My children ask me if I remember certain events and I can't remember some of them at all.  I also have bad balance.  I have to hold on to stair railings and I trip alot.  I should add that I quit snorting speed six months ago.

My question is:  could my memory loss be attributable to ECT or my drug abuse or both?  How long should it take for my memory to come back if at all?

If it doesn't, do I need to get a lawyer?

Thanks

Thanks Bobmaster.  I will pass this by my doctor and see if it combines well with my other meds.

You could try taking a supplement such as Alcar (Acetyl L-Carnitine) to help your memory recover. Alpha GPC is good as well. They both act on the chemical in your brain responsible for memory.

I have had the same effects as you and it was almost 2 years ago when I had the treatments.

This therepy should be held suspect but, I don't know what that can do.
