How long have you been on Celexa and is it helping? I see you have been on others.
Since you feel drowsy on it, you can try taking it at night, which worked well for me because it helped with my sleep. When in the day do you take it now?
I take it at night. I don't fall asleep easily and I oversleep. Wierd. It does help but have anxiety, oversleep, late to work, sexual side effects (typical though), and anxiety. One doc said I'm unipolar and should try just Lamictal which I had no anxiety or depression, but cried alot and got angry easily.
Although many people are treated with anti depressant drugs, these medications do not cure the underlying hurt or sadness that is the true cause of the depression. When the medication is taken away the depression usually reappears.
Learn to overcome depression by understanding and practising:
The conscious ability to relax and release stress any time, anywhere.
The ability to focus the mind.
The ability to neutralise or reprogram subconscious "hurt memories".
The ability to develop mind/body exercises to overcome depression.
The ability to develop new responses to current experiences.
Kindest regards,
The depression didn't come back for me, because I learned how to be happy while on it, which I had forgotten before. I agree that it takes work from the patient to learn how to refocus.
I'd ask your psychiatrist about taking the Celexa in divided doses -- I had a similar experience with the sleeping and being late with Paxil and that's what I was advised to do. Didn't completely eliminate the problem, but it did help.
Some anti depressants help with anxiety and depression. I was on one that did that. As we all react differently to medication, please ask your doctor what they would recommend for you.
