Elderly and constant screaming

Im concerned about side effects from certain meds. that an elderly person was prescibed from a psychiatrist.  If you maybe depressed and never took psychotropic drugs, can one side effect lead to screaming uncontrollably.  Does your brain reject chemicals that the body doesn't understand.

Dementia can cause screaming in the elderly.  They scream out of frustration of not being able to verbalize what they are feeling.....cold, hungry, etc.  Make the prescribing doctor aware of this behavior and he/she will know what needs to be done.

The answer, is yes.  The elderly can be very sensitive to psychotropic medications, causing all kinds of side effects and adverse reactions.  If the "screaming" you are observing is new since the med(s) were started, then a call to the prescribing doc is in order ASAP.
