Hello there,
Combining 5-HTP, tryptophan and melatonin ( use 3mg melatonin at bedtime since it promotes sleep due to it's mild sedative effect.).
Now I will explain you why this natural combination will act as a natural antidepressant.
Tryptophan is the amino acid used to form serotonin. It is also used to synthesize vitamin B3 but that another story anyway i suggest you take a vitamin B complex too. Since serotonin needs tryptophan to be synthesized you need to have a good intake of tryptophan to maintain a good serotonin level. Melatonin will increase serotonin level by reducing cortisol levels and reduced cortisol level will lessen the activity of pyrrolase, the enzyme that degrades tryptophan.
If this is not enough you can add St John's Wort since its a weak serotonin reuptake inibitor and MAO. It will also reduce cortisol levels resulting into more tryptophan for more serotonin.
Finally you can try Rhodiola rosea.
''Rhodiola rosea's effects potentially are related to optimizing serotonin and dopamine levels due to monoamine oxidase inhibition and its influence on opioid peptides such as beta-endorphins'' -wiki
Do not combine any suggestion above with your current Zoloft.
Best regards,
M4
