Not sure..if im depressed

It all started when i was around 15...im 20 now...i was so depressed so to say that i dont remember any of my 10th grade year..felt like i floated right thru it...i went thru many ups and downs...i cutted myself almost a dozen times...i eventually stopped the cutting but the thought of suicide stayed...thru the rest of high school til now i still go thu moods where i be totally fine happy smilin...but then i just get really sad...i get really quiet and i feel like cryin..i times i feel as if i wanna die...i be havin chest pains...doctors couldnt find out what it was they recently just said it might be anxiety..and that i might be depressed..but i dont know if i really am, at times i feel like i am...sometimes im good then ill get irritated or sad...ive taken an online depression test and it said i was but i dont know if i should believe that and my doctor dont know for sure either...what do yall think!!!????

The one way to find out for your is to seek the help of a qualified professional.
I reommend a psychiatrist.  They are the best with situations like yours.
Taking a positive action and taking part in your treatment will have a positive impact on your life.

I guess only you can know how you feel... What concerns me though it the fact that your constantly thinking about killing yourself and the fact that your cutting yourself to show that your hurting some way. I think you really need to think about why your doing that if your not really depressed? Perhaps your confused about life right now? You should talk to someone because it's never good when you want to harm yourself.

I know that as a teenager it's a time of figuring out who you are, so the feeling of sadness happen for everyone at that age. Even up until university, sadness is common because of stress and not knowing what paths to take.

Everyone has ups and downs, that's what makes life interesting. It's important though to get those feelings out. It can be talking to someone close, prayer, writing or some way to express yourself it'll make you feel alot better.

Remember that thinking positive generally makes you happy. Try to look on the bright side of things. Sometimes we can have 4 great things in a situation but we look at the 1bad thing within it.
