Taking Olanzapine

Hello,

I have been diagnosed and treated for psychotic depression, OCD, anxiety for last few years.  I was on olanzapine for 1 year (5mg), and it worked like making me sleepy really quickly and knocked me out in within 10 mins. Then I was on and off basis as I was not so glad to taking medications because all next I was sleepy.  Recently my condition has worsened and I am taking 2.5 mg as said by doctor (take when required and your condition etc).

The question is that now when I take olonzapine I fall asleep after 2-3 hours and I feel somewhat more awake after taking it. This same thing happened to me when I was taking seroquol but was reduced from 150mg to 125mg    What is the matter?  I also get pins sometimes painful, tic-tics noises and crawling all over body when taking it more so my head. The crawling and tics-pins have been there most of time during my illness, but I notice it more just few minutes after taking medication.

Is there Brain damage.  I hope not, but sometimes I have feeling that if medication does not knock you out then I get impressions that there is some brain damage, like when doctors ask and get surprised

Also is it possible that there is a problem in metabolizing medication and/or I also suffer from constipation and that toxins or whatever is lodged up there and olanzapine is going where it is supposed to in my brain?
OR it is combination all of factors.

Worst of all my family physician does not like to do much or does not know what do for me since I am young 22 years old and says nothing is wrong even though my weight has dropped significantly mostly muscle and bone mass, poor overall health (digestive issues, concentration, memory, etc) and etc.  I have nutritious diet and some walking because my energy levels are always low and not much has changed.

What is the matter?  Any suggestions are much appreciated.

First of all thank you for replying. Sometimes I just keep writing and not aware what I am writing. This illness has made me very weary and less cognitive  My English is not so good that's why you have difficulty understanding, I am so used to writing passively after studying and writing scientific information and labs.

Well there were several questions?

I was on many different types of medications for my illness, treiptical, seroquol, effexor,r isperdone, celexa, once injection of copixol, ativan, and cojectin and some side effect of this, and lastly olanzapine.

When I first started this medication a year ago it made me very sleepy very quickly within 10- max 20 minutes I to sleep that was 5 mg.  For one year it worked like this.  I reduced the dose to 2.5 mg as doctor said if I like to since it made me sleepy all day and sleeping throughout the day.  Even at 2.5 mg it made me sleepy but I slept around 9hrs max, and few naps throughout the day compared to before sleeping like 12 hr max with 5 mg.  Now it does not work like before it takes 3 hours or more for me to sleep and I have me on it again for a week now.  I am thinking to increase the dose from 2.5-5mg to see what happens. I will also see a doctor about this matter.
So this is the question, why is it taking so long time for it to work like three hours? It worked within max 20 min whether 2.5 or 5mg.
Is my body used to it, brain damage (one naturopath told me it should knock you out pretty quickly if not then something is seriously wrong that was when I tried risperdone for a week and it not work for me),
I was off for it for some 3 weeks and then my condition worsened so I began taking them again.  I have been taking these for 1 week and same result sleeping after 3 hours. Last night I took 2.5 mg at 11:00pm and slept at 3:00am, this never happened before when I was on these.  Max time was 20min.
So why is it not working like it should and get me back to sleep in 20 min max. This is the main question.

Aside from this how can I get back my health and wellness after including healthy diet, exercise when possible, and etc, some supplements like omega 3s, calcium magnesium. I also tried melatonin without much success

I would like not be on them if possible, but have to since of my illness, because longer I stay or anyone stays they increase the chance of developing metabolic syndrome, especially type 2 diabetes which runs in my family, doctor understands that, says blood test to monitor and that's the max they can do. Also they are difficult to come off , are harsh on your body, side effects, put you out of balance, weaken your system and etc.  I feel horrible physically, but mentally I am stable than all past 3 years ago.

Main Question
Why is it not working like it should and get me back to sleep in 20 min max. T

How can I change my diet for constipation?  This may sound weird but soluble fiber like phsyillium husks makes me more constipated and have to strain more (my doc knows that too.) sometimes probiotics help, and I will get something to like slippery elm and glut-amine to build GI tract lining.

How did come off them and managed to get healthy enough so that you never get back on them?

Hope this is not too much.

Where are you, your post is somewhat difficult to understand, maybe you are using a translator.

I dont think we are sure what the question is?
Hello

I am sure there is no brain damage, you have not been taking it for long.
I took it.  I don't think it is a 'take when required' medication.

you should take the same amount every day, you need to do that.  It takes a while to adjust to it, you can't be going on and off it.

Constipation is a 'side effect'  it occurs to a lot of people taking it.  It slows down your digestive system, or bowels and most people have to change their diet.

I hope this helps get back to us
