True, there is no generic for XR (extended rlease), however, there is a generic for just Effexor and it is called Venlafaxine in tablet form. You may have to take more than one tablet per day to get the same extended effects, I don't know. Also, have you thought about getting your doctor to write you a 90 day prescription and purchasing mail order from Canada? It is so much cheaper. You can pull up Canadian Pharmacy on the web and get prices for generic and name brand.
Hello. I'm on 150mg of effexor xr daily, and about a month ago I ran out and couldn't get out to get more due to the weather. The first couple of days were ok, but after 4 or 5 days I thought I was losing my mind. Confusion, brain shocks, tremors and even hallucinations were among the withdrawal symptoms. I got back on it immediately. From what I've read and experienced, effexor is one of the hardest to get off of. Withdrawal can take days or even weeks. You could always taper down with a smaller dosage like 37.5 mg to lessen the effects, under a doctors advice. Take care, GM
Hello! I have been taking Effexor for a little over a year. I only take one a day, the 75mg I believe. However, 4 days ago I completely stopped taking it. I have been slowly taking less and less over the last month or so, but I am still experiencing the dizziness and "brain zaps". Those are the only two things that have really been affecting my body. I have not felt depressed, or had mood swings, or any of that. I was just wondering how long the withdrawal effects will last?
there is no generic for effexor XR only regular effexor, you are going to notice symptom of a kind of withdrawl, headaches, vertigo, this is the worst. I take effexor xr and if I miss a dose I feel terrible---call you doctor--alot of times the have samples that can get you through until you can get your money.
Your pharmacist can answer that, and some are open 24 hours.
