Thyroid disease as a risk factor for depression - hyper/hypo clarification

In the article on depression symptoms, treatments, and prevention, it says that hyperthyroidism is a risk factor for depression and that it causes too little hormone to be produced - shouldn't that be hypothyroidism? Please clarify. Thanks!

iodine deficiency causes both hypo and hyper. take lugols iodine it will work wonders

I think any time your body is not working correctly it may cause things like depression.
