I do not know how old you are but hopefully you are young, cutting or burning yourself, mutilating your body is a way for you to show yourself that you deserve to be punished or you deserve pain, does that make sense? I would definately encourage you to try to get some professional help and don't give up if you don't connect with the 1st one try another one until you find someone you feel safe with.
Good Luck, it can definately get better/
I firmly believe that there is something going on. I dont know much about the cutting and burning one's self, but I know it's not healthy. I hope that you will seek help with a good psychiatrist.
Hi
Your profile doesn't indicate anything about you or your situation which makes responding, for me, difficult.
In my experience, a person can have "the blues" which usually doesn't last too long. Can also be depression due to a specific reason - losing your job, losing a girl/boyfriend, etc. Real depression lasts for lengthy amounts of time, the person might be suicidal, unable to concentrate, not enjoy things he/she once enjoyed. The self-mutilation part I don't know too much about. There was a time when I carved the letter "X" into my arm to cross myself out of the world.
This seems to be a rather clinical response but if you are looking for caring and support, the folks here can give you lots of that, as well as suggestions about where
to look for help.
