antidepressants

I've been on an antidepressanst for a little over a year.  In the past few months I've been thinking about going off of it.  It wasn't prescribed for depression, but more for coping with a tough time I was going through.  I've been feeling really good and trying to cut back on the medication I put in my body.  I know there are specific ways that you need to go about getting yourself off of them.

My bottle ran out earlier in this week but I've continue to forget to pick them up.  I fee great but a little dizzy:)  I know this is common when you go off of them too quickly.  I was wondering if anyone knew how long the dizziness should last.  I could go refill my bottle but if the dizziness won't last to like I would like to try to not refill it.  Anyone know anythings?????

You should refill it. If you feel stable enough to go off it you should only do so with your psychiatrist's permission and then follow his schedule for titrating off it. Its not only so much withdrawal symptoms that can be of concern but to check on the return of what it was treating and you might be unaware of how it is helping and it takes a while for the medication to get out of your system and its only then that things get bad. I know having done this once on my own and I would never again.
