effexor vs thyroid

I am becomming more aware of the fact that more people who have been on effexor are ending up with thyroid problems after the effexor use where there was no thyroid probem before use of effexor. This is my case and it is difficult to understand what I am suffering from most now as the effects of being on effexor are much like a thyroid gone bad. And since I stopped effexor and all antideppresson drugs almost 7 months ago. However now I feel effexor withdrawls are worse. I am aware of this happening and am trying to deal with both problems.  Has anyone else felt this same thing and if so how do you deal with it, how do you tell which is which, thyroid or effexor?

I know   what depression is,esp. severe depression, I've been there and the withdrawls so horrible that I under no circumstances will touch thoses drugs again. Dr. Ann Blake Tracy is helping me at this point and I am sticking  with her help. Your suggestion was however good and right and I appreciate your answer. Going through the effects of both thyroid and effexor withdrawls I wish on no one.  Thanks

A book I read said that the best way to tell if it's the medication causing the problem is, did it arise soon after you stopped the medication?  Your thyroid would have bothered you on or off Effexor if the medication wasn't controlling it well.  And Effexor is well known for withdrawal problems.  Only you know the answer the these questions.  The fail-safe way to deal is, if the withdrawal is more than you can handle, go back on the lowest dosage of the medication you were on at which you felt okay and taper more slowly.  If going back on the med causes your problems to disappear, you know it's withdrawal.

I wish it were that easy with the thyroid. I have graves desease. The doctor taught I was doing ok so took me off medication but it did'nt work so its back on medication and possible surgery. My case well, doctor says could be life threating if I don't stay on top of it. Yes that could be depressing. I am having bad withdrawls from depression medication, you don't want to go through it. Don't know how and yes it is depressing to talk about it. No, I will never go back on mind altering drugs. Check out web sight drugawearness.org if you want to know why and see what Dr. Ann Blake Tracy has to say about it. Maybe you will undertand, anyway I appreciate your comment

Correcting my thyroid did nothing for my depression.  It takes no time to get your thyroid back on track with medication.  It sounds like you still need medication for your depression, and I assume you're on medication for your thyroid?  If not you need to get this taken care of and go from there.  Until this is resolved medication may not be as effective with treating your depression.
