Hi Gofio, Thanks for your excellent posting. I'm wondering what side effects you are referring to?  If it's sex drive, I changed to the upgraded Effexor called Pristiq which brought back my sex drive.  Also if you have experienced nausea, only take it with some food.  That should help.  Plus I only take my Pristiq at night to minimize any side effects.  I know that I need to take it for the rest of my life after suffering from depression for quite awhile.  It is far better not to have that depression which also deteriorates the telomeres causing strokes, cancer, heart disease and osteoporosis much sooner in life.  Good for you for not stopping it.  I did that once and found out the consequences.  And my psychiatrist told me that if you have an extended history with depression, that stopping anti-depressants can make it more difficult to treat and you will likely need a higher dose to get the same results.  Whew!  All the best to you.  Sara

I also don't understand what you mean by it "pooped out".  What dose were you on before when I'm assuming that you didn't find it working?  I was also on Effexor for years, but then when I had a particularly difficult time, I got severely depressed.  My doctor had me raise it.  That took away my depression completely within a month.  So I'm wondering if you weren't on an adequate dose.  Let us know more to be able to help you.

Not sure what you mean by 'second time it popped out?'' Having been on same med. for years & will probably remain on it for life I find it does have most of the side effects listed on the leaflet that comes with it. Whilst the downside's not good, it's better than being too anxious/depressed etc to be able to enjoy anything. I'm on a very low dose now ~ 75mg. It may not be doing much now,but I won't risk a relapse by stopping it. Best wishes.
