so sick starting Celexa

I was on methadone for over 7 years, have been off since mid March and I have been sick, nauseated anxious and depressed ever since, I can't take it anymore. My doctor just put me on Celexa and it has only been 3 days and I am going out of my mind, my symptoms are magnified x 10! Don't know what to do, can't make it through the day barely! He said I may feel worse for a couple of days but this is unbelieveable. Please help.

Hi Jenelle, earlier in the year I went ct off pain pills & went psychotic .Pdoc after stabling me on Zyprexa ( and my 30 LB weight gain) started working w my depression meds. Pdoc did something different this time. If I had an extreme reaction ( like you on Cyprexs) he'd give me something else,or in a few cases switch back to the former AD.  No more 3 week see if you'll get past it.  Ask your Pdoc. It's a new protocol my Pdoc is working with me.
Yes, like Larry , I've been on lots of med changes, one so expensive my copayment was $649.00 per month. Good thing that one had bad side effects
Could be different for you. I deal with BiPolar & opioid addiction. Best of luck

I completely understand.  After coming off of pain pills I fell into a deep depression...a severe, life threatening depression.  With the absence of the methadone you are left with the difficult task of having to learn to control your emotions and mood and given the length of time that you were on it you can expect to struggle with depression.   I have never taken Celexa but I have seen it work for a lot of people.  With me SSRIs always made me more anxious in the beginning and it seemed over-whelming.  Med adjustment is aggravating in the beginning because it is trial and error.  I have been on over 14 different meds but I am finally on a combination that works for me and I promise it will get easier...just hang in there and advocate for yourself while you work with your dr to find what works best for you...
Good luck,
Larry
