Basal Cell Carcinoma? with photo

32 year old male, Family history of Basal Cell Carcinoma in father and sister. Discovered 4 days ago.  Lesion has smooth texture, is non tender, slightly elevated and 8 mm in diameter.  Would you wait a few weeks to check for changes or would you see a dermatologist ASAP?  Does anyone know what the differential diagnosis would be besides Basal Cell Carcinoma?

THank you

Thanks for the advice. This area of body (chest) has not received sun exposure in months. Heritage is mostly German, plus French, English and Welsh. Very fair skin for German, however.

There is no great rush for basal cell or squamous cell like there is with melanoma.  To me this looks like a common reaction to sun exposure in someone with Irish or Scottish heritage particularly.  If it cracks, bleeds, or has a change in surface texture, then I might suspect basal cell or squamous cell.  With such fair skin, if you avoid sun exposure for a year, this will not leave much of a scar probably if you have it snipped off.
