Boil like bald spot on beard

I had a spot on my beard (cheek) and it left a slight raised mark.....one day i felt it and got into a habit of rubbing it. Eventualy this turned into a red lump boil which was very painful and sore. Its taken about 3 or so weeks to nearly go. Im at the stage where the lump is near enough gone but there is still a red shiny kinda scaley mark about the size of a top of an eraser tipped pencil. The Problem is i now have a bald patch on that area.

Im getting all worried it could be alopecia of the beard or is this hair loss due to the boil andwill this hair just eventually grow back.  Thank you.

I had the same thing exactly. It was a large boil near my ear on the top of my jawline. It eventually opened up and subsided in size but there is still a little tiny bump left. The problem is that it also created a little bald patch for 2-3 weeks now. Did your hair eventually grow back? Will mine do?

Hello,
I cannot confirm anything without examination but it does not look like alopecia aereta. It looks like temporary loss of hair due to the boil and these hair will eventually regrow. Unless and until there is permanent damage to the hair follicles of hair, it usually grows back. It grows back in usually two weeks but sometimes may take 4-6 weeks. Apply olive oil and take some vitamin supplements for some days. Also eat a healthy, nutritious diet and drink plenty of fluids. If the symptoms persist then please consult a dermatologist.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
