Burning Red Skin

This is my 1st post on here so not sure what i'm doing yet... so please bare with me. I have been experiencing a burning sensation mainly on my upper body (but can be everywhere) it is hot to the touch and gets red and will itch it does get very painful. There are no bumps or blisters. It comes on out of the middle of nowhere and it doesnt last long. I'd say it last 30 mins to an hour and a half. it usually happens it the moring shortly after i wake up. It very rarely happens more than once a day. But usually happens at least 5 times a week. It was happening for about 5 months then stopped for a month or 2 months then it has started happening again for about 4 months. I have not changed anything... no new meds, soaps, foods, nothing new! Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I do have fibromyalgia and was recently diagnosed with hyperthryoidism. I also have a few other health problems but I have searched everywhere and can't find where this linked to any of these.

Thank You! I will try these things. I will call my doctor before taking anything, because of all of my prescriptions. I appreciate the input.

Hello,
One possibility for such itchy rashes which appear all of a sudden and then disappear after 20-30 min after itching is hives or urticaria. Hives have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in same or other places after some time. They are mostly in response to allergens in the environment but can also occur to hot and cold conditions.

The standard treatment of hives is oral antihistaminics and topical steroids. Oral antihistaminics relieve itching and you can get them over the counter but some of them may cause drowsiness and hence should be taken under a medical guidance. Topical steroids is available by prescription from a dermatologist.
In addition you can apply calamine lotion which will help in soothing the skin and take some vitamin C which is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine. You can also take a diet rich in vitamin C like citrus fruits, oranges, papaya, grapefruit, raspberries, blueberries, cranberries, and pineapple.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
