Can hydrocortisone ointment USP 2.5% treat itchy bumps on face and neck?

I started getting these tiny itchy bumps on my face last week so I went to see a dermatologist this past Monday and she prescribed hydrocortisone ointment ups 2.5% for me to put on the affected area twice daily, morning and night, for 5 days. The redness of my face has reduced, however, I still have the bumps all over my face and neck, and now they seem to be spreading to the back of my neck and also ears. They are still very itchy. Not sure if I should stop using the ointment since it hasn't been 5 days yet but I can't tell if the ointment is helping. Please advise! Thank you.

Corticosteroids knock down the inflammatory response which may allow the offending pathogen to spread without resistance. Treating the cause is always better than just treating symptoms

Call the dermatologist that prescribed the medication and let them know about the reaction- it's very important they know and they will be able to guide you in stopping the medication and/or switching courses of treatment.
