Is a ingown hair cyst poppable?

So I have an ingown hair cyst in my pubic hair that's been there for 9 days. The first 3-4 days were crazy painful but then started to die down, although it's still red and raised.

Saw a doctor 2 days ago and said it was too late to try to remove it. Gave me antibiotics for the infection and steroid cream for the inflammation.

I'm very keen to get rid of this given I've just started dating someone and we might get intimate soon, but also don't want to try to drain it and scar or make it worse.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Keep up on the antibiotics and steroid cream the doctor gave you- that's going to be the best way to treat it and get rid of the spot as soon as possible.  Messing with it will only inflame it and might make the infection worse.  Feel better soon!

Thanks for your help. The inflammation is getting a bit better but the underlying cyst seems totally unchanged. Is there a likelihood this doesn't go away?
They do take time to heal- if the inflammation is getting better, sounds like you are on your way to it healing up, but it will take some time.
