Dark and lite white spots above upper lip??

I am a 29 year old white male.  I have had dark spots above my lip for the last year and now recently have some lite white spots just above the the creases of my mouth on each side.  Doing some online research i found that the dark spots are what looks like melasma but the spots that are actually lighter i cannot find anything on.  Is this possibly a fungus or the dark spots just going away?  Also the dark areas  are starting to itch more.
Sincerely,
Neil

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms the possibility of any fungal infection needs to be ruled out because melasma is non itchy. The other possibilities are of contact dermatitis. Most cases of fungal infection respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole.

But before using these please get the diagnosis confirmed from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
