My boyfriend had heart surgery 4 weeks ago and few days ago a rash appeard on his lower right leg.  It does itch and is very red.  Not sure what this could be.  There are no other rashes on his body.  Can anyone help? I am stumped.

Thanks for the info.  Upon reading the reactions to his daily medications, I believe that it might be a rash that is caused by these.  He is going to check with the Doctor today.

While this might turn out to be nothing more than a dermatitis to applied ointments during cardiogram, or cathetrization still needs to get evaluated to rule out an endocarditis.
Do get back to your surgeon and get a blood culture.
Best wishes.
