Hi Vanessa,
The pull tests are positive most of the time. When I wake up I can see lots os hairs but I don't count it, when my account reaches 60 hairs I stop and give up.
I've gone to an endocrinologist too and the blood tests were all normal, DHT below to normal, Testosterona, too.
Bests,
Carlos
Hi.
I would think that this is telogen effluvium. If this is male pattern baldness, you may not be able to see some regrowths after a few months. In alopecia, regrowths may occur. Also, you have noted change in the texture and character of your hair. This sounds like your hair loss pattern follows a certain phase of hair shedding and growth. Let us see how this will progress through time. Telogen effluvium presents with a more diffuse hair loss while alopecia presents with a more definite loss of hair which may present as patches of hair loss.
Have you tried tugging on your hair? When doing so, do you get to pull some hairs easily? Also, upon waking up in the mornings will you be able to report a loss of about 400 hairs per day when you count the fallen hairs on your pillow?
I also suggest that you have your hormones checked. Have you been assessed along this line?
Hi Vanessa,
Thanks for your reply and sorry for not being complete in my description. I've no redness in my scalp and the most alarming fact for is that my hair fined all over scalp in an impressive and short period of two months.
When I compare a photo taken on Dec 31st and another taken on Feb 20th I can clearly see the difference in the hair brightness and texture (those two pics with the same hair-style). The hairloss started in mid-January and it was acute initially and now it turned into chronic, I think, because of the time past.
I've already been assessed by a dermatologist that told me I have AGA, but since the shedding is so acute and difffuse I've searched for a second opinion and the other dermato said I'm passing through CTE process and recommended me patience. There are three months now since I started finasteride, Avicis, Ketokonazol but the shedding did not finish at all and I can see a few regrowth (I can't see vellus hairs, too).
I'm trying to contact the other guy with the same problem than mine to know what happened with him.
Bests for you,
Carlos
Hi.
Hair loss may be due to a condition with scalp disease or it may be due to a condition not involving the scalp. In your case, you have not mentioned of any scaling or redness on the scalp. So I would assume that a scalp condition may be ruled out. Scalp disease like seborrheic dermatitis , fungal infections and discoid lupus may present with defined or diffuse hair loss. On the other hand, male pattern baldness may present with a particular pattern which begins on the vertex or crown and may eventually lead to thinning of the hair line along the temples. This may be hormonal and genetic.
As for telogen effluvium, this is a phase of hair growth wherein shedding may be alarming. This may in fact persist for months .I suggest that you have this assessed by a dermatologist or endocrinologist. If this begins to improve already then telogen efluvium is a likely diagnosis.
