Eyelashes fell out and not growing back w/Latisse

About 2 months ago, I was taking off my eye makeup when I noticed that a clump of lashes was missing.  I'm talking about 1 cm. at least.  I'm really confused because I've been using Latisse now for about 3 months and have really nice, long, lush lashes, aside from the patch that fell out.  I have no idea how it happened, except maybe I was rubbing too hard to remove my makeup.

I've continued using Latisse every night since and have seen no growth whatsoever in the lash "blad spot".  I don't even see the follicles where the hair should be coming from.  I've had to wear eyeliner constantly because it's extremely noticeable.

I've read that an underactive thyroid could be a problem, but my bloodwork came back normal.  What happened, and will they ever grow back?  I've read that it takes a few weeks but it's already been 8 and there is nothing happening.  My dermatologist was no help either, as she said I probably just accidentally pulled them out and they'll probably grow back.

Please help.

Thanks.

I know this thread is pretty old but I was just curios what you found out and when/if they grew back. This happened to be about 1 month ago. I have no new lashes and lost a whole finger breadth. I'm on day 10 of latisse with no change, nor did I expect to see one this soon.  This is so did disconcerning. All blood work is normal. Normal exam at PCP and ophthalmologist..

Thanks for the feedback.  It's been well over 4 weeks (it's now been close to 3 months) and one single hair has grown back.  The rest of the area is bare.  I've been using FML ointment followed after Latisse as per my derm's instructions but have seen no improvement (except that the rest of my lashes are super long, thick and dark).  I'm thinking I'll seek an opthalmologist next to rule out dermatitis or something (although it doesn't itch or isn't red and irritated at all).

The Latisse definitely works for the rest of my lashes.  I've been using that and other products OTC that contain the same ingredient for years now (Revitalash, before it was taken off the market by the FDA).

Thanks, Martika.  However, it's now been about 2.5 months and I've seen only one single lash grow back (I bought a 10x magnification mirror and study the area a lot).  Another derm I visited prescribed me FML ointment to use on the area 2x daily, in addition to the Latisse I've been using.  She said that the small clump is so much more noticeable because the rest of my lashes are so long, dark, and lush.  I've been using the ointment now for a week and haven't seen any improvement (except that the small lash that grew in is rapidly growing, but that's due to Latisse I suspect).  The rest of the area where the lashes fell out is bare; I can't see any evidence of hair follicles or anything.  False lashes don't adhere to my eyelid in that area because there's no hair to atatch to, so I've been filling it in w/eyeliner every day.  This is so tiresome.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The eyelashes could have fallen due to trauma while removing the make up. Unless and until there is permanent damage to the hair follicles of eyelid hair, it usually grows back. It grows back in usually two weeks but sometimes may take 4-6 weeks. Apply olive oil and take some vitamin supplements for some days. Also eat a healthy, nutritious diet and drink plenty of fluids. The most important nutrients are biotin, silica, magnesium, sulfur, zinc, and vitamin B6. There are many eyelash growth products in the market, but their efficacy has not been scientifically proven. So consult a dermatologist before using any of them.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

eyelashes grow at a rate of around 3 months so that when 1 falls out a new one comes in but it can take 3 months to happen. Youv only given it around 2 months.

It's alright but you need to give it time. make sure that when your removing eye makeup to do it gently, don't just pull the mascara off your lashes.
