Growth on forehead

About 4 months ago, I developed what appeared to be a bump or pimple above my right eyebrow. It eventually came to a head and broke open and bled after a couple of weeks. Then it was like an open sore or wound for about 2-3 months. The wound closed up but now I have puffiness around where the wound was and some redness around the edges. It doesn't really hurt or itch. I have a dermatology appointment set up. What do you think it is and is there anything to be concerned about?

Don't want to worry you to much, but you may need a biopsy. This sounds like it could be a superficial skin cancer. Go to the skin cancer foundation and look up basal cell carcinoma. Lot of the symptoms you have fit this diagnosis.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,

This may be acne or folliculitis. This may also be a boil. An infected comedone is a primary differential and you may need oral antibiotics for this. This should readily resolve with medications.

Wash your hands frequently and wash your face using a mild and nonabrasive cleanser such as Cetaphil. Avoid unnecessarily touching the area as this may only worsen the condition. We do not want any further infections here as the face is very sensitive and contains plenty of blood vessels. Infection has to be contained to avoid spread.

Keep us posted regarding your physician's consult .
