Hair loss recovery after seborrheic dermatitis

Well, for the last 9 or 10 days I've gone under some major treatment for my mild case of seborrheic dermatitis.I've been using a combination of Nizoral 1%, and head and shoulders, with a combination of essential oils, such as lavender and peppermint oil. I've also stuck to using over the counter creams to help with the inflammation,my scalp is ALMOST fully cleared of this crap. This was self-diagnosed because I can't afford a doctor at the moment. I went through a bout of hair shedding over the last 2 years, it wasn't major, but the hair growth had slowed down so now my scalp has thinned out quite a bit. I went through a major depressive episode that led me to not taking care of my hair properly, as i was washing it maybe once a week, twice sometimes. I have always had a somewhat oily scalp all of my life. During said episode, I developed some really bad dandruff, and letting it sit there and not taking care of it eventually lead to major inflammation. As of now, the inflammation has gone down tremendously, there's still some pesky scalp build-up from the areas that were affected, but they're nearly gone now. My hair fall has gone down as well, I guess my shedding has gone back to normal before I would have about 10-15 stray hairs coming out every time I ran my fingers through my hair, brushing was even worse at that point. Now it's gone down to maybe 15-18 hairs when showering,I think it was onset from a bout of TE as well, since the hairs had a white club at the end of them, but my major question is, after the reduction in inflammation, how long will it take for my hair cycle to return to normal?

And I also take 10000 mcgs of biotin every day along with brewers yeast immune system booster and a multivitamin.  I havet noticed much affect of hair regrowth from the biotin but my fingernails have grown rapidly . and that is coming from a guy who always had the habit of chewing them almost down to the nub.  The brewers yeast has also shown to have improved the seb derm as well since theoretically seb derm is caused by the immune system.  And I very rarely get sick.  Which I never have much anyways.

I know what you are going through.  I too was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis and have delt with hair shedding as well . my derm prescribed me ketacanozole 2 % shampoo and betamethasone steroidal ointment to help combat the inflammation and hair loss .it has almost completely stoppedy scalp from flaking and itching as much . it has been a tremendous relief  . I have lost a lotttt of hair due to this crap . its taking me a while to regrow it as well . but I'm a guy who's always worn a hat so it wouldn't make a difference much anyways . I could be completely bald and hardly anyone would know because very few people have seen me without a hat. And good news is the derm told me to wear it all I want to because it will not make the problem worse.  And can actually benefit because it keeps the scalp dry and keeps other dirt and dust off the scalp.  A moist scalp due to sweat dirt or sebum scalp oil can lead to irritation . I also had a slight touch of seb derm around my eyebrows . haven't really lost any hair over it but ocassionaly I'll get a random itch on my eyebrows or after a shower there will be this white pasty liquid around my eyebrows . which is the dandruff and sebum combination.  I would ask a derm about the ketacanozole shampoo it did wonders for me.  Good luck.

Well, it's been about two months since this treatment started. I went through an entire bottle of otc nizoral. I've stopped using it for now, I started freaking out over the the hair while washing my hair with it. Which was about 14-20 every time i used it. I tried the clinical strength H&S, but it dried out my hair and didn't have much of an effect. I've recently started using Aveeno Anti-dandruff/seb. derm. shampoo. it's been about 3 days since I started using it more often with a bit of improvement. I don't feel the bumps as much anymore. But it's still annoying to deal with. My hair shed has gone down to about normal, I don't notice much throughout the day, but now I have myself scared to have my hair pulled back (because of the lost hair associated with everyday shedding). I haven't noticed much in regrowth, luckily my scalp is still filled in to where it's not noticeable, but my hair is just taking forever to start growing again. The hair density is what irks me. I've found myself meticulously counting every strand of hair that falls out in the shower. I've started adding onto my regimen of supplements. I've started taking 10,000 mcg's of biotin with 100mg of keratin. (Started 5mcg's of biotin alone about 2 months ago). I've resulted to having to take stress tabs to keep myself calm about the hair loss issues. Before I'd find myself wandering off into the bathroom every few hours to look at the damage this crap has done. And as of 3 days ago I've started taking an omega 3-6-9 supplement. It has fish, flax, borage, black currant, and evening primrose. I know I should avoid taking a supplement like that since the everyday diet consists of more than enough omega 6's. But I've been avoiding any forms of oils like the plague, so I guess it can't hurt, right? I'm about to start taking MSM, as I've been told/heard that it can aid in the whole SD fiasco. I've read mixed results, but, it's worth a shot. Currently waiting on my app. status for medicaid, since I'm unable to work because I take care of a mentally/physically disabled sibling of mine. Hopefully by then I won't have to walk into a derm. office and be given a bunch of junky steroids to only mask this problem.Hopefully my hair will start growing soon, I'm sick of thinking about it day and night!
