Head and Neck Rash

I have a rash that appears under the skin on my neck without any visible redness and with only a minimal amout of itching.  I also have a tremendous amount of itching throughout my scalp.  I'm constantly scratching.  This has been going on and getting more intense for several weeks.  My Mother claimed when I was a child the doctors said I had an allergy to my own hair.  I have actually aloud my hair to grow longer than usual in the past year.  I've changed shampoos and soap without any change.  Any idea what the cause may be?

Finally went to the Doctor and was diagnosed as Eczema.

I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be redness caused due to irritation caused by touching of the hair and dermatitis skin due to rubbing of hair with the skin or sweat dermatitis. The best thing to consider is to prevent that portion of the body from sweating like by wearing light and cotton clothes, taking cool refreshing baths, maintaining the temperature in your homes and cars and avoiding strenuous activities. Also keep your hair tied when it is hot and sweaty.

If however dermatitis occurs, then please apply mild corticosteroid creams like dermacort or hydrocortisone or calamine lotion on the rashes.
