Itchy skin all over body

Since returning from a three month long expedition in 2012, my skin now itches all over my body.
There is no rash, redness, or swelling associated with the itching.
I am able to effectively eliminate the itching sensation by taking a generic antihistamine.
There are three things that I believe may have precipitated my new allergic reaction.
I wore a neoprene wetsuit every day for three months.
I was stung and bitten every day by mosquitoes, gnats, midges, and blackflies.
I added two drops of chlorine bleach to each quart of water that I drank to disinfect it.
Since I have never been affected by exposure to rubber or insect bites, I believe that the adding of the bleach to my drinking water may have altered the flora in my gut causing the new allergic reaction.
Any insight into this issue would be appreciated.
