Jock Itch or Herpes

Hello !

i am concerned because it's been a while that i have had a little itch on the tow corners of my groin near the top where it connects with the penis. I have never tested positive for herpes but one day it had a equivolent result. never had no break out or anything. But the itch persist and when dried up / heal looks like a ringworm kinda.
I am confused if it jock itch or herpes... I have been usin an anti fungal and the itchin stop greatly and oen of the sides barely itch anymore. Please shed some light on me and clear up teh confusion in my head. Thank you and lookign forward to a reply.... thank you

I am not sure of what test it was but it was a whiel ago i took it and i think it was a .97  but they ran the result twice and i think the second time it was lower.. I think i deleted email from the Dr.Office... But then the doctor told me it may have been a false positive. I was tryign to tie it all to see if one can complicate the other.  Let me know abotu a .97 result but today the lil bump is gone and left a minor ringworm looking area size of circumference of a pencil eraser... Thanx for keeping posted .. and hear from you soon

Hello,

Jock itch or tinea cruris cannot interfere with HSV-2 test and effect its outcome. So pls don,t worry about it.By the way, which HSV test have you undergone?Herpes select and Western blot are the best confirmatory tests for HSV.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.

Hello,

From the description of your symptoms it sounds like fungal infections(Tinea cruris).Herpes sores are blisters which crust and scab over.So pls don’t worry about herpes.

Wash your groin daily and then dry thoroughly by pat drying, not rubbing. A hairdryer is useful if you have hairy groins. The damp groin is an ideal site for fungi to multiply. Also wear cotton underwears and change them twice a day and do not share other people’s towels.Application of local antifungal cream(terbinafine, clotrimazole, econazole, ketoconazole, miconazole) and oral antifungal drugs are the mainstay of treatment. You can consult a pharmacist and get any cream or lotion containing these ingredients. Some of them are Lamisil, Monistat derm, Mycelex, and Nizoral.

If the symptoms still persist then pls consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
