MYSTERY BITES PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, I really need some help as the doctors are at a loss. Ok I recently moved up north from london 3 months ago, almost straight away I assume I got bitten on my hands, and both my thumbs became severely swollen, and were incredibly itchy, a few days in they went down and no harm done, but bites continued, on my shoulders, neck, ears, legs, feet basically all over, i bought every repellant available including plug ins. I then developed a rash on my thigh a cluster of raised lumps varying in size, they only lasted a few hrs then disappeared, i showed them to a nurse she said they werent bites. Over the next couple of weeks the bites, rash and swollen fingers continued, so I saw my doctor, he diagnosed the rash as Hives, gave me a steroid and antihistamine treatment but said, Hives are an allergic reaction to something and I need to identify that otherwise they will continue, and they have, as have these mystery bites. We have no pets and my partner doesnt have any bites, we've searched the carpets and mattress but cant find any evidence, I havent seen any gnats or any insect come to think of it, but I am being bitten and when I am bitten on my ears, hands and feet they swell. Any help would be appreciated.
