rash anxiety

Between the base of my penis and my scrotum I developed a rash after shaving. I had sex the same night after shaving multiple times with the same girl. (unprotected) Lube was added once and it literally felt like it caught my junk on fire. This is the only girl I slept with in 7 years other than my ex wife which we never cheated. The very next day the rash was very sore I was assuming from constant friction and the lube that burned like crazy. Anyway the next day it was like a raw open wound. I went to work, I work outside, and it had been in the upper 90's all week. after that day I noticed it had swelled and had tiny water like blisters by the shaft base where It could be rubbing. looked kind of like a heat rash. They didn't itch, I popped them, they scabbed and went away. The first thing I think of right away is herpes. I called the girl, who is a friend of mine, and she assures me she was tested months ago, was clean and everything was ok. I went and got tested after that week and everything came back negative so I went to my dermatologist and she took some cultures but it will not be back for 21 days! My derm says it could be herpes and it could also be a bacterial infection. the whole ordeal lasted about 2 weeks and it healed up. the only other symptom I had was my lymph node in my leg was tender. Im taking an antibiotic and something else in case its herpes.  HAS ANYONE seen something like this and it not be herpes? im going bat **** crazy with anxiety over here.. :(

Just got my culture results back today. It was a staph infection. Woo hoo!! Still a pretty serious infection but at least I don't have herpes. I also had my partner get tested and everything came back neg on her part as well.

Thanks again. The more I research the more it looked to be an infection. Where it was there is a lot of hair and it looked like a boil. The only thing that had me thinking herpes was the water blisters. But I've been looking and it could have been caused by a number of possibilities. I have psoriasis, rubbing, cellulitis, bacteria. Etc its just killing me waiting for the results. Once I get them I will post them

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
I agree with your dermatologist as it can either be due to herpes or due to bacterial infection like staph caused by shaving and worsened by friction rub. Only culture of the wound can confirm the diagnosis. Lymphadenopathy can be found in infection (bacterial as well as viral). Hence you should wait for the report to rule out any herpes. Till then use mild soaps and wear cotton clothes.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
