Patches on toes.

A month ago I noticed a reddish/purple patch on the fourth toe from my left foot which itched badly only at night. I assumed that it would go away on its own, so I didn’t do anything about it. My symptoms, however, worsened in that other toes from the same foot started to get inflamed and have reddish/purple patches appear on them. Subsequently, after a few days, the toes on my opposite foot started to show the same symptoms. Also, when I press on these patches, their color changes to what normal skin looks like.

I went to a dermatologist who diagnosed me with athlete’s foot. (He didn’t order any tests or anything of that nature, but simply looked at my feet.) I don’t think that I have this disease because I don’t have telltale symptoms such as: cracking, peeling skin, and especially stinging and burning between toes.

Here are a few pictures of my toes: http://imgur.com/a/w3T1Q

What disease do you think this might be?

Thank you!

Some times its trial and error. Maybe go back and have the doctor do some tests and may suggest a biopsy to get to the bottom of this. You might complain that your first office visit was a waste of money as his guess might be wrong and ask to be reexamined.

Is it helping? Remember you need time to have it affect the condition and if you start to see it clear up then youll know the doctor was correct in his diagnosis, he most likely is correct anyway and even by him just looking does have experience with this.

Yes, I have been using a Naftifine-based product.

Hi and welcome. Did the doctor give you some medication to treat this?
