Prevent Re-Infection of Athletes Foot?

How do I prevent re-infection of athletes foot?

Since shoes will re-infect my feet, will heat kill the foot fungus?
ie. Will baking shoes in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes kill the fungus?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for the advice.  I didn't even think about it spreading to the groin area.

I'm wondering if it would be OK to put all leather shoes (with leather soles also) in the oven.  I really want to make sure my shoes don't re-infect my feet.  Maybe a lower temperature will also kill the fungus.

dont put your shoes in the oven! it will melt them... you need to alternate your shoes!  Athleats foot is a fungus, so you need to take your socks off when you get home and let your feet air out, BUT DONT WALK AROUND!!!!  it will get on your floor! keep your feet dry and out in light as often as you can. Change your socks, and then wash them, any time your feet sweat. Use over the counter treatment, found at any drug store, and stick to it, even after the burning goes away. and make sure you wash your hands after you apply the cream/spray, and after you change your socks, touch your feet, etc. YOU CAN SPREAD this fungus to your groin (jock itch) and other parts of your body (ring worm)  good luck!
