Hi,

Shaving the groin or the pubic area may increase the risk for infections such as folliculitis and pseudofolliculitis barbae (ingrown hairs).

I would suggest that as much as possible do not shave the area. Nicks and cuts on the skin may facilitate infection of the skin and thus may lead to the above mentioned conditions which in the case of folliculitis is contagious.

It would be best to maintain good personal hygiene, refrain from shaving, avoid scratching the lesions, wash them several times daily. Apply calamine lotion several times daily to help soothe the lesions. Use a medicated sunscreen whenever you go out.

You should consult a skin specialist if the lesions are persisting after a few days.

Let us know about how you are doing and what your specialist advises.

Regards.

Hi. Many people prefer to trim or remove their pubic hair and this can be done safely. To avoid irritation when shaving: use a new razor and shave in a lukewarm bath or shower. Use a good quality shaving oil like King Of Shaves. Pat the area dry afterwards and apply Vaseline or Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream to prevent irritation.
Alternatively, use a hair removing cream indicated for use in this sensitive area. The best ones come with an aftercare lotion to prevent irritation.
Waxing at home can be difficult, it is better to go to a salon and get this done profesionally.
