Purple Thread Veins

This morning, a few fine purple lines running two inches below my breasts, right on the bottom of the rib cage. The lines were almost as fine as a hair, and barely visible.

I've been reading up on Thread veins, and the only information that I find is that if you have them appear on your stomach, its either age, pregnancy, smoking, or something...neither of which seem to fit me.

I'm 20 and I am overweight, with severe hypothyroidism. Could that have anything to do with the Thread veins? Are they even thread veins?

Help please!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms these sound like superficial veins or telangiectasia.Superficial veins are visible in normal fair skinnes persons.Telangiectasia are small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin or mucous membranes. It can be due to venous hypertension, sun or cold exposure, skin trauma, carcinoid syndrome or CREST syndrome.

Sclerotherapy and laser treatment are the two main treatment options.Pls discuss these treatment options with your dermatologist.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Warm regards.
