Question about biopsy's

Is it safe to say that a biopsy is the bottom line diagnosis?  I have been diagnosed with mild eczema on the top of my penis shaft by a punch biopsy.  Can I for sure say it is nothing else?

Thanks

Oh and I forgot to mention that a dermatologist was the one who did the biopsy.  I can not get it to go away even with steroid cream, I can just make it not as bad.  I do not feel good about myself anymore either.  Is there nothing else that can be done to determine the underlying problem?

Is it common to occur on the top of the penis shaft?  It can be painful when inflamed and looks very weird.

Thanks!

Hi,
Eczema is usually diagnosed through a physical examination. If in doubt, or your doctor feels that you need further tests, you may be referred to a skin specialist, called a dermatologist. Further tests may include skin biopsy, in which a small sample of the inflamed skin is removed for testing.

Eczema is a heterogeneous group of different non-infectious skin diseases which may be caused by irritative as well as immune mechanisms and lead to pathological changes in the epidermis and upper dermis (corium). It is the most common category of skin diseases. These changes are what will be seen in a biopsy specimen.

Eczema is a constellation of clinical findings, not a particular disease, and may manifest with erythema, papules, vesicles, crusts, weeping and oedema in its acute phase and with thickening of the skin, lichenification, and scaling in its chronic phase. Itching is a guiding symptom.

You can be sure the condition is not some infective or STD lesion, but the cause for this inflammatory response will not be known.
