Rash on thigh

Hi, i have a rash on the inner part of my right and left thigh, its dark and it has bumps and is very itchy sometimes.  Ii had it since i was young and never really found out the cause. I was always a chubby person so i'm guessing its because my legs rubbed together, but i'm not sure. What i would like to know is how could i permanently remove this problem and if the rubbing of my thighs together is really the problem and if so what is the treatment u recommend?

Hi,

Have you used any antiallergic medications for your symptoms?

It is nice to know that the post was of some help to you. The treatment plan was a generalised one depending on the symptoms you are having and i had added that you need to rule out eczema as a possibility.

But if your symptoms reappear , it would be best to consult a doctor.

Keep us posted.

Regards.

Hi, i wrote that question about the rash on my thigh that i had since i was young, and u gave me some advice, i have to say it was very helpful, but the thing is that i don't have eczema, i never had it nor any other medical illnesses but the usual (cold, flu) etc, rarely.. So what i would like to know is if the reply u gave me is based on a person with eczema, or it's pretty much a general advice for my symptom

Hi,

It could be eczema, sweat dermatitis, allergic reactions or eczema.

You need to wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites.

Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene .

Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin.

For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g. hydrocortisone or desonide), whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid (e.g. clobetasol propionate, fluocinonide).

You should also start some diet plan and exercise training to help you lose weight.

Eczema can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Moisturizing is one of the most important self-care treatments for sufferers of eczema. Keeping the affected area moistened can promote skin healing and relief of symptoms.
