thanks for the response doc, i was wondering tho, are these signs of a penile yeast infection? because it started to bother me again after having unprotected sex w/ my gf who might or might not have a yeast infection.
Hi,
Since this patch of rash was part of the originally diagnose condition of Psoriasis, it could very well be the same thing now.
Psoriasis is considered a long-term (chronic) skin condition. It has a variable course with periodic ups and downs. Sometimes psoriasis may clear for years and stay in remission. Some people have worsening of their symptoms in the colder winter months. Many people report improvement in warmer months, climates, or with increased sunlight exposure.
The exact cause is not known. It maybe due to a combination of factors, including genetic predisposition and environmental factors. The immune system is thought to play a major role.
Genital lesions especially on the head of the penis are common where it appears as flat, red patches. The best treatment is individually determined by the treating physician and depends, in part, on the type of disease, the severity, and the total body area involved.
So, you could apply what was given to you earlier, on the rash.
Treatments range from local (cortisone cream application, emollients, coal tar, anthralin preparations, and sun exposure) to systemic (internal medications, including methotrexate and cyclosporine).
