F/u to last night....I went to the dermatologist today and was told I had pityriasis rosea. I was told it will resolve itself in 6 weeks to 3 months and is not harmful to me or baby
Thank you for your information. I have a dermatology appt tomorrow. I read about PUPP, but I am only nearing the end of my first trimester and thought that was a thrid trimester issue. I read about scabies, MRSA and bed bugs...but we do not have bed bugs, I checked the mattress and bed thoroughly and it does not look like MRSA and I have not come into close contact with anybody with scabies. I do not think it is anything contagious as my husband has no signs or anything. I will keep you posted on what the Dr says....I read about something called pityrius rosea and it sounds like that could be it too...but who knows. As long as it is not staph or scabies, I will feel much better as i do not want to cause any harm to my baby by taking medication.
Hi,
These may be two different type of disorders. The first may be a dermatitis at the site where the infection was. The second could be a fungal infection. However, since you mention pregnancy, it indicates to me a disorder called Pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP).
However, any of these diagnosis are based on what you have described which may or may not be better than a consultation.
Therefore, it would be best that you visit your dermatologist or gynecologist and take a opinion on this. they may be able to provide you with the diagnosis and treatment.
Till the time a diagnosis is reached, try not to scratch the lesion on the leg, since it could be infectious and spread the infection. This may lead to widespread honey-colored lesions called Impetigo.
Please keep us posed and let us know if you may have any other queries.
Best regards,
B
