Early last summer 2015, my penis was injured after sex with my girlfriend. Abrasions to the glans and a little cut along the shaft just under the head. Girlfriend had just had the IUD implanted, and this may have caused the injury as the "string" was much too long, as even her doctor later admitted. You could feel it with your fingers, like a sharp metal bristle. My girlfriend was menstruating at the time, and also had a yeast infection, as we later learned.
Cuts did not heal for two months, despite abstaining and applying vaseline. My doctor said it should go away.
Dermatologist friend recommended 1% hydrocortisone. Problem healed after one week.
Tried having sex again and was re-injured. Again problem did not heal for one month until again I had to use hydrocortisone for one week.
Abstained from any sexual activity for weeks. Penis looked perfectly healed.
Very very tentatively tried masturbating, Within only a minute or two a dry, well-defined lesion surfaced on the glans. Immediately stopped and left it alone.
Nothing changed for a couple weeks, until this time I tried antifungal cream Clotrimazole, recommended by my doctor.
Treatment had an immediate effect. Lesion healed, but even after two weeks of treatment, the skin never fully went back to normal. Instead now it is just a larger rough patch on the glans. The dryness seems to be spreading, which is the reason I've decided to stop using the Clotrimazole after two weeks. Now (January 2016) I'm just going to leave it alone. I haven't had any sexual activity this whole time. I'm afraid to.
Will schedule a derm appointment, but would almost like to see if the dryness heals first, just so the doctor won't say to wait and see. Or maybe try to have sex again to see what happens and then be able to show the derm the problem, if it resurfaces.
I hate to sound like a baby, but I can't tell you how this weighs on me. Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.
