Greetings,
I have been told that my condition is drug induced lupus and that it was caused from a blood pressure medicine I took for almost 6 years (lisinopril)/
I am so sorry to hear that your 16 year old is still going through this. I have started breaking out again. Yesterday caught a cramp leaving the grocery store. As luck would have it, the sun was beaming RIGHT down on my left side. I have more hives now. I'm so sick of this. IMO, at this point I think they should rule out an allergic reaction. With the amount of anihisthimines I am on, no way I should still be breaking out. I wonder if this is a skin infection of some sort? I'm going to go get a second opinion. I'm feeling really defeated right now. Anyone, please help or give advice
My daughter which is 16 has been dealing with what sounds like the same thing for about 2 years now. She was on prednisone for 6 months straight and on and off since, plus zyrtec, benadryl 10 a day, allegra and a few more. So many she had to be homebound from school for the remainder of the year and it did clear up, but that is not an acceptable way to live from now on. She was sent to a specialist in Charleston, SC and skin tested for everything and wasnt allergic to any of it. And they took 10 vials of blood and tested her for everything also and all we got was it's something to do with her autoimmune system that attacks itself which causes this. But you would think somebody out here would be found an answer to this problem. But anyway goodluck and if i learn of any new ideas i will let you no.
Hi and Thanks for your reply,
I will admit, I was in distress, felt sorry for myself but felt alone more than anything. I had skin problems B4 but nothing like this. By Friday, Im cleared up lots with barely any redness except 4 on my legs. Over night I had a few to pop up on my legs but Im trying to stay calm and they got red, then went down, now i can barely see some.
We dont know why Im reacting like this. Im so scared to go in the sun. I have work on Monday as I took off the last part of the work week. I told myself I would test myself but Im being a chicken. Thank the lord for my boyfriend, he has been so good to me.
I have some question. Are hives more likely to form if your skin is dry? Should they feel like knots? When they all of a sudden get really red and start to go down, are they going away? Im still sad because I dont know what to avoid.
I forgot, the only changes I made were detergent scents (purex Naturals from white lily to apple mango I think). I went to all free and clear and bounce free and clear. Also about 2 months ago I had a weevil or pantry pest problem. Lots of new bug sprays tried by myself and the exterminator. The last thing he put down was supposed to desenegrate them. One of the things she asked was I allergic/sensitive to chemicals
Hello,
Hives result from dilation of capillaries allowing fluid to leak out into the surrounding tissue, the epidermis. They are of two types:acute and chronic(when hives persist for more than 6 weeks). The most likely triggers for acute urticaria are allergies to pets, horses, latex and foods, such as shellfish and nuts, bee or wasp stings, allergies to medicines,Viral infections, such as glandular fever and herpes, dental and sinus infections, fungal infections, blood transfusions and vaccines.
The cause of chronic urticaria is often more difficult to identify. Most cases are called chronic idiopathic urticaria, which means they're caused by the body's unexplainable development of antibodies to itself (auto-antibodies).
Chronic urticaria is often accompanied by coexistent physical urticaria, triggered by environmental exposure to heat, cold, sunlight, vibration, pressure on the skin or even exercise. It will be only after allergy testing that the cause may be identified,Till then pls continue taking the antihistaminics that you are taking.
Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have additional queries. Kind regards.
Forgot to mention that these are on my stomache, forearms, inside of my arms, back (here and there) and on my sides. Also any clothes or even the sheets leave marks on my skin.
